I recently came into possession of a photo album containing 35 identified photographs, most taken in Walton. If any belong in your family tree, I will be happy to scan and share the images. Names and notes follow. Women are listed by their maiden name, if known. The original owner of the album is unkown, but many individuals seem to have a connection to the Presbyterian Church of Walton. The original owner might be related to Lizzie M. Shipard, as one photograph is described as "Mother's Scotch cousins" and bears the initials "L.M.S." Best wishes, Carolee Inskeep ********** Ballantine, John. Photo by Mereness, Oneonta. Hello Melissa, Would you happen to know who the Charles Wood is that was living in Hamden? My Uncle William Watson died on the farm of Charles Wood in 1941, Hamden. I found a Charles Wood on the 1930 census. My Uncle was supposedly born in PA so wondered if the two families knew each other before my Dad's family came to Delhi. please discontinue me from the above list...I am getting literally hundreds of messages. There should be a method to screen out casual messages or chats. Sorry, I do enjoy the site for all the info on Delaware county, but I can't keep up with 50-60- messages a day..thanks nan13143@aol.com
Thanks for the advice, Carol. the 1826 deed only mentions that the property was subject to a mortgage granted on a certain date in 1811. I think that Peter R. Livingston sold it to him because he sold the other half of lot 235 on the same date in 1811.
It is getting damed annoying... can't we just go back to the way it was. I don't want to unsuscribe but this is getting worse than any spam attack i have ever received. -----Original Message----- From: nydelawa-bounces@rootsweb.com on behalf of Ann and Bob Frederking Sent: Fri 10/20/2006 10:30 AM To: nydelawa@rootsweb.com Cc: Subject: Re: [NYDELAWA] discontinue from subscribers list There ARE means of setting up filters in your e-mail program so that all messages from this list will go directly to a separate mailbox. Hi Gary, In my database I have an Earl Wheeler (1801, MA) married to a Fanny F, Freeman. They appear in the 1850 Census for Honesdale, Wayne County, PA with children Marshall, Eliza P., and Mary C. Marshall Wheeler is in the 1860 Census for Honesdale, Wayne County, PA with a wife named Sarah and sons named Earl 2d, Howard and Sammie. Carol Potter Meadows In a message dated 10/16/2006 11:52:56 AM Eastern Standard Time, garypwheeler@hotmail.com writes: I am trying to find out how I might access a book described as follows: Ephraim Wheeler settled at "The Cove" (Earl Wheeler, given by Susan C. Wheeler, Wheeler Genealogy [Hancock, NY, n.d. (no date?)] The description above is from Volume 3 of the Wheeler Genealogy by Raymond David Wheeler. In my work so far, I have Susan Catherine Wheeler, b. 1837, d. 1929 in Hancock, NY. I believe that the Earl Wheeler in the reference was probably older and was related perhaps as a 1st cousin once removed. There is a mention of an Earl Wheeler in the History of Delaware County as an attorney in Honesdale, PA. According to the 1880 federal census, Walton, Delaware County, NY, I believe Frank might have been the son of Philo ?. Sprague (b.circa 1836, NY) and Julia (?) Sprague (b. circa 1837, NY). There is also a Sprague family in the 1900 census that might be his parents 20 years later. I don't have access to census, but a friend printed out a couple of pages for me and I got all this from those few pages. I hope this at least gives you some clue and somewhere to start. Barbara; Sprague: I decided to do some searching and came up with: 1900 Census Walton Ferris P Sprague (aka Peter) his wife Julia (Dann) and their daughter-in-law Flora B Sprague b Nov 1864, widow her daughter Nellie b Jan 1889. Nellie and Earnest Vail will show up in Orange Co in the Social Security Death Index. I do not see a death date for Frank L Sprague, obviously it is between 1888 and 1900. I have been told that Peter Sprague is somehow related to my Spragues from the New Kingston area. Peter is interred in the Mary Smith Hill Cem at Lew Beach, Sull Co. There is no listing there for Peter's wife Julia. Note: there is a St John- Sprague connection back in Connecticut that may come down to Ezra Sprague of New Kingston. hope this answers your question better. evelyn
A very warm welcome to Rene'. Thanks for the Roll Call invite. Here is one side of my oldest family Palmer and what information that I have. Being in the Raleigh, NC area, it is hard to get information from 500 miles away. Solomon Palmer was born at Van Cortlandt Manor, Westchester Co. on October 26, 1750, later moved to Pawling, Dutchess Co. and finally to Delhi/Andes townships in Delaware Co. NY, living to be 85. He was a veteran of the Revolution, is listed in "NY in the Revolution", and received a pension. Wife on land deeds is listed as Mary, Children listed on letters of administration are: Solomon Jr., William F., John (my line), Daniel, Hannah (m. William Yeoman of Delhi), Jonathan, Polly (m. Charles Higbie), Thomas ., and Elizabeth (m. David Earl), David being related to Moses Earle of the Anti-Rent fame. Solomon is my great grandmother's family, my father descends from Henry Palmer and Roxanne Faulkner, who came to Meridale, Delaware County from Cortland Co. about 1842. His and Her parents are unknown. Henry was born 1809, died June 18, 1847 a younger man. Roxanne was born 1807, died 1881. I do have most of John's line downward, if anyone has further information on these folks, please contact me. Jeremiah Palmer originally Palmer Hill, Meridale now Wake County, North Carolina
Hello Cousin, as my lineage comes from William's sister, Mary Catherine who m. my g-g-g-grandfather Reuben Rundle (Reynolds). I also would like to learn more about Delilah's father, as all I have was his place of birth, but no year, nor did Amy Gavett ever finds out anything during her research back in the early 1920's. If you learn anything more about William's father-in-law, then I also would appreciate learning what you found out that is if its OK with you. I never been to see George Washington grave site but have been to the Gavett Cemetery several times, when I made my visits to Delaware County. Wish you success in leaning more about the GREEN side of the family. Alan
To Nancy, I read your questions concerning Frederick Banner and Willis Banner, etc. with much interest and will respond as soon as possible. Carol
Barbara Do you have any idea who Frank Sprague was the son of ? One of my Sprague relatives had at least 15 children so anything is possible, BUT most of the Spragues I find are descended from Abel. Mine appear first in t/o Middletown starting with Ezra bc1794 h/o Harriet DuMond. evelyn
My husband has a HUNT line. Addison HUNT was b. about 1825 probably in Onondaga Co., N.Y. m. Cynthia A. FISH 3 May 1848 Brooklyn, Jackson Co., MI. They had children - Frank Mortimer, Viola Sophia, Laura Jane (Ned's line), Byron F., Mary A., Stella A., Fannie and Elmer C. Only Frank married, Byron F. did not. Several of the daughters married and probably has descendants. Addison HUNT d. 1 March 1897 in Norvell, Jackson Co., MI. Supposedly his father was born in CT. and mother in MA. I have possibilities but no confirming proof. Doris, heard from Carol and she is recovering from Corpal tunnel operation on her left hand. She would be the best to fill you in on the TERRY/SIGNOR heritage, as she is a direct descendant of Samuel Terry/Abigail Signor (her brother, John married Loretta Terry). Have forwarded my Delaware County Signor's writing for editing and once published will forward you a copy while the larger Signor Genealogy is almost ready to be sent out for editing. Want to get these out as I approach my late 70's an recall that Allen Signor's 40 yrs of research may never get published. Will check my files on the Signor/Terry connection to the McDonald family. Have a great day. Alan

Hello all, George Washington Gavett married Delilah Green and later settled in Ulster Co. just over the border of Delaware County. They are buried on the family plot on their farm in the middle of a field. Their son, William Green Gavett is my direct ancestor. He is buried in the Gavett Cemetery on Mill Brook Rd in the town of Middletown/ Delaware County. Supposedly, Delilah Green's father is William Green of Albany area , NY. Does anyone have any information about this Green/Greene family? Thank you, Helena hasr007@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
