    3. Aside from my first mental leap from Wilcox to 7th day baptists, I took a shot at familysearch.org, found this FWIW: Joshua PARKER Born: 7 Nov 1770 Place: Wallingford, N-Hvn, Ct Died: 21 Jun 1854 Place: Raisinville Twp., Monroe, Mi Buried: Jun 1854 Place: , Raisinville Twp, Monroe, Michigan Married: Abt 1811 Place: Of Wallingford, New Haven, Conn. Josh Parker was still about a generation later than my Dolly but could indicate a family tradition. 2. Dr. Steven P. Wilcox
    3. I have a Parker ancestor whose husband was from Delaware County. My ggg grandfather, George Wilcox (of Delaware County, NY) married Hannah Parker, who was born 3 APR 1807 in Verona, Oneida, New York according to RootsWeb and LDS sources. Hannah died on Jul 15 1836 and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Summerfield Township, Monroe County, Michigan. Her father, Joshua Parker, was buried in Raisinville Twp., Monroe, MI, according to RootsWeb and LDS sources, and came from Wallingford, New Haven, CT (LDS) or Connecticut (1850 Census). Adjacent to what I think is his 1850 Census record in the Township of Dundee is a Morgan Parker, aged 30 and from New York, but Morgan is a loose end in that I do not finding him in any RootsWeb genealogies. Does anybody have documentation pertaining to this? K Powell wrote: > I'd like to begin a discussion of earliest Parker families in Delaware County, > if and how they are related. 1. [NYDELAWA] PARKER families
    2. K Powell
    3. I'd like to begin a discussion of earliest Parker families in Delaware County, if and how they are related. My focus is to learn who were parents of Dolly Parker 1756-1836, wife of John Cook in Colchester. Family lore says John & Dolly met at Monmouth NJ when she found him the next morning among those fallen in battle and took him to her physician father's home to nurse back to health. One other mention that may help is that one of the Amasa Parkers is her cousin. During the Revolution families moved around, so I don't necessarily expect they be from Monmouth or even NJ, or that any particular Amasa's relationship is definite as cousin, only that they're related. To kick it off there are biographies on the DCNY history site http://www.dcnyhistory.org/ that I looked into but don't find a Dolly or physician to connect. Next best-guess leads me to wonder if Capt Wyman Parker 1753-1821, wife Mercy Gillette, his parents Nicholas Parker & Mary Converse, could be her brother - birth years close, & living nearby, Revolution service, & they had a son Amasa 1784-1844. Who's got Parkers, and whatcha got? ____________________________________________________________________________________ We won't tell. Get more on shows you hate to love (and love to hate): Yahoo! 3. Suzanne, Yes have that information, but actually from my brother's two sons. they are abit older than I. They were quite young when their father was killed. His life was much like his father's. Basically left for someone else to raise... Much like mine. As they say the sins of the father..... My brother Cecil was given a much sadder life to lead. He went to Nam twice and was poisoned by Agent Orange and it finally took him in 2003. Harold, I believe was born in Penn. But was raised in Delaware County and was married to an Irene Beadsley a relative of Anna Beardsley wife of Ira James Mullinex. It is hard to find some information that for most seems like an eternity while I have a father born in 1896 a brother who died at the age of 29 in 1944, and several brothers in Korea and Vietnam includign me and I've yet to turn 56.......... Harold's wife, Ina Jacobs Glover was born 25 Nov 1899, in Starrucca, died 08 Jun 2001, and is buried in Starrucca Cemetery. Ina was the daughter of Edward A. and Winifred Washburn Jacobs. 2. Tom & Louise Kanaley
    3. I am seeking information regarding Eli Reynolds(1733 -1817) who married Mary (1734 - 1808). They are buried in the Riverside Cemetary, Town of Kortright, Bloomville, N.Y. They were the parents of Nathan Reynolds (1777-1864) who married Margaret Jacquish (Jaquish?) (1784-1862) She was the daughter of John Jacquish (Jaquish?). Nathan moved to what is today Burdett, New York , Schuyler County after 1817 and is my g-g-g-grandfather. I want to know if Eli is the son of Elisha Reynolds born 1706, the son of Henry (1656-1716) and Sarah Greene (1664-1716+) Henry was the son of James Reynolds (d.1700) and Deborah in Kings Town, Rhode Island. James was a son of William Reynolds who came to Providence, Rhode Island from England in 1637. Louise Benton Argetsinger Kanaley (Mrs. Thomas J. Kanaley) seneca7@frontiernet.net

    1. Re: [NYDELAWA] Beerston Acetate Plant
    2. Tim Mallery
    3. From Frank Myers' book "The Wood Chemical Industry In The Delaware Valley", he says the plant started up it's ovens on August 17,1898, and was greatly enlarged after 1910. Most of the plant was dismantled in 1924, and parts were used in building a huge, new plant in Glenfield, NY. The Beerston plant continued running on 2 of it's original ovens, with greatly diminished capacity, to sometime prior to 1932. Virtually all plants of this type went out of business between 1920 and WWII because of the development of synthetic chemicals in Germany. At 10:27 PM 2/24/2007, you wrote: > Hi, > Recently I came across a old obituary of my G. Grandfather Marion >R. Cooke. The list originally appeared in The Walton Reporter two days after Japan surrendered in 1946. There are approximately 160 names. The data generally includes the hometown, place of death, and date of death. It sometimes includes the cause of death, branch of service, and names of kin. My copy of The Reporter also lists service data for RETURNING VETS. There are thousands of names, and since I cannot easily transcribe that at this time, I'm offering to do lookups. I need the first and last name of your vet in order to do the lookup. The paper also profiled 24 deceased servicemen from Walton ... including photos. I will try to scan them in and get them to Joyce shortly. There are additional profiles for servicemen from other towns, as well as lists of service awards, etc. Much of this data was provided to The Reporter by the US War Department, but as The Reporter points out, there is much error. 1. [NYDELAWA] Beerston Acetate Plant and death of Marion Cook
    2. Hello Catherine, I do not know what your obituary for Marion Cook states but I found one in The Adirondack News, for Saturday, November 17, 1923. It could be 1928 but I am quite sure it reads 1923. Also, this obit states that he was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Gouverneur...home town of his daughter. I went to Google.com and found the cemeteries in Gouverneur. However, I cannot find a Forest Hill Cemetery but I did find a Riverside Cemetery. In that cemetery, there is a M. R. Cook, 1860-1923 and his wife Bell Cook, 1888-1923. The obit said his wife was Elizabeth but perhaps she was buried as Bell. Perhaps you know the details. You might want to check the 1920 census. The M.R. Cook fits with the obit. Also, on this site, there are photos of the two individual Cook tombstones as well as photos of their section of the cemetery (section A) I found his obit by going to _http://fultonhistory.com/_ (http://fultonhistory.com/) This is an excellent web site for researching upstate NY and its relationships to the rest of the USA. There are literally thousands and thousands of newspapers that can be accessed. Sometimes the web site gets stubborn (when it is busy) or your computer cannot cope with it or whatever. But I have found all sorts of relatives and their activities and weddings and deaths, etc. on this site. 1. [NYDELAWA] Beerston Acetate Plant
    2. Catherine Cooke
    3. Hi, Recently I came across a old obituary of my G. Grandfather Marion R. Cooke. At the time of his death, he was the superintendent of the Beerston Acetate Plant at Walton, N.Y. He was killed, when his automobile was struck by a train. The obit does not have a date on it, but my Dad, who was born in 1918, remembers that he was a young boy, when the telegraph came, informing them of my G. Grandfather's death. So, I think that it may have been in the 1920s. But, does anybody know when the Plant was in business? Thanks, Catherine Cooke

    3. Not sure if you have gotten responses about your ancestor query or not, but the question is probably what happened in Feb of 1863, not April. On Feb 12th, the 144th moved from their camp at Upton's Hill (Camp Bliss) towards southeast VA. Rumors and possibly orders might have circulated widely the 11th, on which day he was said to have deserted. Your ancestor was in Co. E of 144th NYVI, the 'All Delaware' regiment. Robert J.
