    1. [NYDELAWA] Land records inquiry about land in Coshechton
    2. Ed & Mary Yonan
    3. My maiden name is Allison and my Allison ancestors were from Orange Co., NY My G5 grandfather was Joseph Allison who moved to Goshen in 1725 and died in Goshen in 1755. His son, Richardson Allison, was my G4 grandfather and he also lived in Goshen in Orange County. I have a copy of Richardson Allison's will which he wrote in 1763. In his will he gave to his daughter, Pheby Allison, all rights to his "land in Cashechton, divided and undivided" I had no idea where Cashechton (sp?) was located when I read the will. After doing some Googling with several spelling variations, I found references to the town of Cocheckton/Cosheckton in the "History of Delaware County" by Munsell at http://www.dcnyhistory.org/books/munhank.html Does Delaware County have early land records that would help me discover whether Richardson Allison owned land there in 1763? Richardson Allison died in 1769, so I assume that Pheby inherited the land after his death. She married Abram Gale, so the land might have been registered under either the Allison or Gale surname after Richardson Allison's death. I am willing to pay someone to do land record research in Delaware County to find out if Richardson Allison and/or his daughter, Pheby Allison Gale, owned land in or near Cosheckton anytime in the 1760s or later. I live in California so I cannot do the research myself. Thank you in advance. Best wishes, Mary Allison Yonan yonan at fgi.net

    3. 06/03/07 Hi, My Kincaid family was originally from Scotland and settled in Albermarle C., Virginia prior to 1776. They then moved to Missouri and then on to CA. I'm not sure when they came to America but part of the family could have settled in New York. My McAdam side of the family came from Hamden, Delaware Co., New York. 1. [NYDELAWA] Brown family of Delaware County - not
    2. val brown
    3. Offline I was asked if I have a connection to Delaware County Brown family. My answer is no because Brown is not my maiden name. However, I did a lot of research with my former sister-in-law. "My" <direct line> of Browns didn't settle in Delaware County that I have found. Most of them came to Chenango, Madison, and Cortland counties in the early 1800s from Stonington and North Stonington, Connecticut; and Lynn, Massachusettes and England before that. There are two books about these Browns that I know of: 1. Brown Genealogy/Of Many of The Descendants of Thomas, John, and Eleazer Brown/ sons of/Thomas and Mary (Newhall) Brown of Lynn, Mass./1628-1907/ by Cyrus Henry Brown. Boston. The Everett Press Company. 1907 2. Vol. II Brown Genealogy, 1915. (Has parts 1 and 2). Part 1 refers to the above family and Part 2 is "Part II/Many of the Descendants of/ Charles Browne/of Rowley, Mass./1647-1915 by the above same author, publisher. 1915. There is a third Brown genealogy I've seen: Ebenezer Brown and His Descendants by Jennie Brown Hollist, Imogene Brown and Family Representatives. Bob Davis Publishing Co. 1979. Of course, there must be other Brown genealogies than these. Some indexes are very often surname, name indexes in these books that helps research by name. ~Valerie ____________________________________________________________________________________Boardwalk for $500? 1. [NYDELAWA] Mailing List Rules
    2. Rene'
    3. 1. First and foremost this is to be a Genealogical Discussion Group. A sharing of ideas, information and questions pertaining to the Delaware County. The sharing of information and asking questions is what helps the most. 2. There will be and I stress no foul language of any kind, no off colored jokes or rude remarks to any other members of the list… posted to the this list. If you want to do so amongst yourselves, fine. 3. There are to be no attached files posted to the list. They will be rejected by rootsweb. 4. There will be no solicitations of money allowed on the list. If this is for an historical society etc., email me first, privately. nydelawa-admin@rootsweb.com 5. If you have a question about a post, not sure if it will be allowed, email me first, privately. Do not just post it. What may be important to you may not be to others. 6. Use plain text when posting to the list. Html will get rejected. 7. This is a family oriented list. I welcome suggestions, hints, trivia etc , IF it is related to Delaware County or genealogy. 8. Please no test messages. If there is a problem with your email, email me privately not through the list. 9. Please be considerate of those using the digest mail. This means delete all information that is not pertinent to your email. 10. Please change the subject line when replying if it has nothing to do with what your message is about. I realize that every once in a while we all may forget to do this, but let's try our best. 11. Do not post objections to list mail via the list. Email me directly and privately. Doing so only adds to the disruption. 12. Do not post unsubscribe notices to the list. This is also a disruption to others. I sometimes do not read all mail, so your notice may be lost in the shuffle. The directions for unsubbing are below, or you can email me directly and privately. Last but not least, this is not a moderated list. Meaning that all posts are automatically sent to the list members. If I have a problem with a poster and he/she is ignoring the rules, I will moderate them, and if that person repeatedly ignores the list rules, I will remove them permanently from the list. Thank you everyone, Rene' List Administrator nydelawa-admin@rootsweb.com

Calculate fuel costs In case you haven’t been to the pump lately, the price of gas is on the rise. It seems like prices always jump right before summer. Of course, that’s when most of us want to take a vacation. So, if you have a vacation scheduled, plan carefully. It might be cheaper to fly than drive. AAA has a fuel cost calculator that will help. Sure, you could estimate the cost of driving. But AAA will give you precise results based on the make and model of your car. You can also see the daily average gas price in different regions of the country. There’s no doubt that gas is expensive in Phoenix. But our prices are among the lowest in the country! 3. Asa & All, I will consider everything that is emailed to me privately before submitting to the list. However, regarding eBay you can now have searches emailed to you with whatever names, counties that you are searching for. (If anyone needs help with this feature, email me privately) I personally use this feature, it works great, and since this is available for anyone to use, there really is no need to send the information to the list. 3. Hi Ray, What an interesting (and sad) piece of history! In my research of the McDonald's of Delaware County, I haven't heard of that piece of history, though I haven't looked into that family. I have heard of a Christian McDonald, I think, but no history. I would be interested in learning what you have on the family. They are not in my line, but I'm in the process of writing a book about the McDonald's of Delaware County (primarily my McDonald's, but I want to include other McDonald's to fit the pieces together). I'm also working on the migration pattern of these families and I understand there were one or more ships that arrived with many McDonald families. 3. Everyone, This is to let you all know that ANY advertisements/solicitations for money is not allowed on this list, as per rootsweb. If you have something that you would like to make mention of like for a historical society or any thing else of that nature, please email and ask me first. nydelawa-admin@rootsweb.com I realize that many of you peruse eBay for auctions, and most if not all of you are just trying to help, unfortunately, there are some who join lists just to advertise what they are selling on eBay. I will not allow eBay auctions to be posted for this reason. Thank you all for your understanding in this matter. Rene' list administrator
