    1. [NYDELAWA] Walton Library Genealogy Wish List
    2. Hi Everyone, The Ogden Library suffered many losses in last year's flood, including a loss of Walton genealogical items. Annie Sulger, who works at the library, sent this "wish list," below. If you have anything to help her, please contact her directly at: asulger25@frontiernet.net Best wishes, Carolee Inskeep **** Finally I can give you a beginning of the list of lost items from The Walton Library: We are missing all of the copies of the Manual of Walton High School and Union School (Annual Catalogue ) before the year1916-1917, missing 1917-1918, 1918-1919,1920-1921, 1933-1934, 1937-1938. We were lucky enough that people had given me extra copies and we had them in another area of the Library. We lost the copy of the Walton High School directory, 1871-1945:with a brief History, 1853-1871. We lost all the Walton High Yearbooks which started in 1947 and ran through to the present year, except for the year 2004. These are now called Walton Central High School (yearbook) Any of these would be greatly appreciated as we use them to help class reunions together. Another thing connected with the school was a Item called "our Tattler/ published by the students of Walton High, for a few years in the early 1900's. A few of these were also found in another area of the Library. We would appreciate any family genealogies that people could furnish to us. Since all of my records and correspondence were together I am unable to contact those people who gave us these before. I will try to send a list of those as soon as possible. We still do not have our cataloging straightened out. I'm working on this now but it seems to be one step ahead and two back. In the family genealogies we lost all 1. "The Historical journal of trhe More Family, (there were 15 in all), 2. the Three volume set of The Ogden Family in America, Elizabethtown branch and their  English ancestry:John Ogden, the pilgrim and his descents, 1640-1906, their history, biography & genealogy" by William Ogden Wheeler:edited by Lawrence Van Alystyne and Charles Burr Ogden. We have been given since the flood a Revised  1978 edition of the Charts for The Ogdens. 3. "The History  and genealogy of the Patchin-Patchen family" by Grace Patchen Legett. Carolee, this is only a small list of the ones I would like to replace. I'll try to get another list out to you soon. I have contacted a few people for replacements and so far they have been wonderful in their response. Thank you for your support. Time to head for work now. 2. Ann O'Hara
    3. Doris, If they are the Benjamin & Mary Fox in Buckingham Twp., Wayne Co., PA, they had been married 12 years as of June 1, 1900. Given the birth of their daughter in June 1889, 1888 is a good bet for their marriage date. If they were married in Wayne County, their license would be on file at the courthouse (and on microfilm at the historical society). Since they were so far north, it may have been easier to be married in New York, in which case the record would be there (Hancock perhaps). 2. Joyce Riedinger
    3. Hello All ... Anyone who has submitted material for the Delaware website recently and you don't see it on the site, the reason is that I lost it. In the process of compacting the mail in Microsoft Outlook Express, I believe I shut the computer down before the compaction was completed. Upon opening Microsoft Outlook the following day, I noticed that all my folders were missing. Just now, I searched online to see how to resolve this, but truthfully, I don't want to take the time with this sort of messing around. SO .... if you would please re-submit data and/or photos I would appreciate it. Thank you! --J. 3. There is no Northmoreland County in Pennsylvania. There are Northumberland, Westmoreland and Northampton. No Northumberland. 2. I was incorrect. Lackawanna, Wyoming, Luzerne were once part of Northmoreland County. But, what a confusing issue this is! It seems counties near Philadelphia once had a territorial claim to a part of Pennsylvania at an angle going all the way up to the NY border, plus CT once claimed part of it. I had an ancestor, (Jasper Edwards) who owned land near Milford, PA but due to counter claims from CT people he gave up and moved up to Windsor, NY. -----Original Message----- From: Ed & Mary Yonan <yonan@fgi.net> To: nydelawa@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 8 Jun 2007 1:39 pm Subject: Re: [NYDELAWA] Land records inquiry about land in Coshechton Dear George, Ann and John, Thank you very much for your help in explaining boundary changes for counties and states which will have an impact on where I might find land records for Coshechton in the 1760s. I did find some information on another mailing list several months ago that Richardson Allison bought 300 acres of land in Donegal Twp of Lancaster Co., PA on 12 Oct 1739. At the time I found this tidbit of information, I wasn't sure that this info was about "my" Richardson Allison because I had no information that he ever had any connections with Pennsylvania. However, I've just checked the Handy Book for Genealogists and discovered that Northumberland Co., PA was formed from Lancaster, Berks and Cumberland Counties in PA in 1772. Now I obviously need to determine if the area called Coshechton that straddled the Delaware River was a part of Lancaster Co., PA in the 1760s. If so, I now realize that the land record for Richardson Allison that I'm looking for is in Lancaster Co., PA. My best wishes and sincere thanks, Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: <gyarns@aol.com> To: <nydelawa@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 08, 2007 6:21 AM Subject: Re: [NYDELAWA] Land records inquiry about land in Coshechton > In regards to county names in Northeastern Pennsylvania, one should be > aware that Northmoreland County in Pennsylvania once comprised what is now > parts of Wayne, Susquehanna, Lackawanna, Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. > Northmoreland County land records are kept in the courthouse in Sunbury, > PA. > George Yarn(e)s > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Ed & Mary Yonan <yonan@fgi.net> > To: NYDELAWA@rootsweb.com > Sent: Fri, 8 Jun 2007 2:01 am > Subject: [NYDELAWA] Land records inquiry about land in Coshechton > > > > My maiden name is Allison and my Allison ancestors were from Orange Co., > NY My > G5 grandfather was Joseph Allison who moved to Goshen in 1725 and died in > Goshen > in 1755. This is in the town of Hancock. The road starts at Peakeville, near East Branch. Neither Methol, Burnwood or Peakeville today are anything resembling towns or villages. Just a scattering of houses, most of which were built in this century. My family was in Burnwood from about 1880-1905 and probably knew your G Grandfather. What was his name?. You'll have to use the index at the State Library in Albany to get an index number for the death certificate. If you can't go to Albany it will cost you a LOT to have state employees take the 5 minutes or so to do it for you. Once you have the index number it will cost you somewhat over $20 and about a 3 week wait to get a copy. If they do the index search it will take about 6 months. The Hancock Herald will probably have an obit for him on microfilm. Bob Norton Bob, Thanks for the information on Methol I looked it up on the map www.epodunk.com know I know a lot more on it. My GGrandfather Joseph D. Davis died April 17, 1904 their was a civil war veteran he was with General Sherman . Most of my ancestors lived in Rockland Twp like to know Joseph Parents. I was born in Livingston Manor in Sullivan County now in Neptune, NJ near the shore. The web site has helped me a lot from all the responses.
