    3. Marge, Records for NY State were not required to be kept until the 1880's. Even then most towns didn't start doing it until late 1890's, 1900's. You can find out more about this by going here: http://www.dcnyhistory.org/messick.html#3 There are also some great ideas on where else to look for this kind of information. The town of Masonville had some great clerks who kept wonderful data regarding parents, spouse and burial information from the 1850's and up.     3. That is a good question and one I cannot answer. My earliest one to date is 1919. Keep in mind that death records of any kind were not required until the 1880's - in NY that is.     3. I usually get the parents names and where they were born. If they died of any illnesses. Where they died and are buried. Spouse's name, birth information, death information if applicable. Whereas the death certificate usually just gives the deceased's information.     3. I am looking for any information on what happened to William Perry Sanford. He was born in 1815, son of Charles Clark Sanford and Mary Smead.     3. I'm looking for any information on the Elijah and Eunice Travis family. I believe they had a daughter Elisabeth and a son Ethiel among other children. They lived in Delaware County for at least the early to mid-1800's. I have census data for them but no other information
