    3. Hi, I used to know my husband's FISH line quite well. It was said that there were three FISH brothers who came from England. Somewhere, but not handy, I have one of the FISH lines back into the 1500's in England with middle-English spelling. They came early to the colonies, MA. or CT. By the 1800's they were in Onondaga Co., N.Y.; their next move took them into Michigan, I don't recall the exact county. By then for my husband, it was no longer a FISH line, but a HUNT line. I marvel that your FISH married a SMITH. I have a SMITH line, too. But I haven't been able to do much with it. Jesse WHITE b. 9 Aug 1782 in Peterborough, Hillsborough C., N.H. Jesse's parents were: John WHITE and Elizabeth SMITH. So, Elizabeth SMITH had to be in Hillsborough Co., N.H. in 1782. Peterborough has an interesting history. If you do an Internet search for Peterborough, you might be able to find some of that history, It named people and said from where they came. I think some came straight from Ireland; but some much have come up from the MA., CT., or Long Island area. Kay C. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dick Dodge To: NYDELAWA-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, November 17, 2007 4:41 AM Subject: [NYDELAWA] Daniel FISH I have spent the last several years attempting to determine the lineage of Daniel FISH, father of Daniel FISH (Jr.), born c1790 in Connecticut and died in 1853 in Delaware County, NY. Daniel FISH (Jr.) married Margaret GROAT in 1808. I descend from this line through their son Charles FISH and Charles' daughter Laura Minerva FISH who married Robert PIERCE. My research leads me to believe that the father Daniel FISH was born c1761/64, location unknown. He married Sybil SMITH born 28 Sep 1786 in Suffield, Hartford County, CT. They next appear in Norfolk, Litchfield County, CT. in the 1800 census. By 1810 the family is in Meredith, Delaware County. I believe that Daniel & Sybil had three children, Daniel b. c1790, an unknown son, b. c1791-1794, and a daughter Betsy, b. 25 December 1799. Sybil SMITH was born in Suffield, CT 3 Jul 1766, daughter of Eldad SMITH and Sybil HALL. She died in Meredith in 18 February 1842. Betsy FISH was unmarried and died in Meredith in 21 December 1873 (age 74), leaving a will. I have the lineage of Eldad SMITH and Sybil HALL. It is my belief that Daniel & Sybil lived around the Suffield prior to moving to Norfolk, Litchfield, CT.; however a search of surrounding town & church records in Hartford County, CT. has yielded nothing. I have also searched all available town & church records in Litchfield County, CT. with no results. While researching I found of interest that two other FISH males were married at the same church in Suffield, one in 1794 and one in 1810. Both of these FISH men were born and lived in nearby Windsor, Hartford, CT. This FISH line supposedly came from Wales to Connecticut. However, Daniel is not found in Windsor. If you also descend from Daniel FISH, I would like to hear from you.
