    1. [NYCORTLA] Re: (NYCORTLA) Libraries/Resources
    2. Dear Jane, The Public Library in Cortland holds several shelves of city directories dating back to the early days. I found a great deal of information following family and relatives moving around the city. The Cortland Historical Society at 25 Homer Ave. Records in the county court house also provided valuable data. Rural Hill Cemetery has burial records. Some marble monuments/markers have been laid under a layer of sod to protect them from acid rain destruction, at the time of my visit in the early 90s, the custodian would provide location information and a metal rod to probe for the stone. You were allowed to roll back the sod, gather your information and then replace the sod. There are smaller towns/communities/cemeteries in the county such as Homer, Truxton, Cortlandville etc. where early members of the family may have lived. Good luck, I hope to return for more research in the near future. Jane Dupree researching, Reeeves, Dickerson, Leonard (Truxton), Hamilton.
