Hello all: A few months ago I promised that I'd soon finish up the final version of the New Woodstock Cemetery list (Cazenovia, Madison Co., NY). Soon turned into later, but I am finally done! There are over 1600 names, and I used many sources to try to get the most accurate information for each entry. The biggest trouble was that the best list available, compiled from the Sexton's records, has the date of burial and not death. So ... I went to other sources such as family genealogies, Death Certificates, obituaries, church records and a list compiled by the staff at Lorenzo State Historic Site to glean what other information I could. It does not make the most complete list possible as none of these represent the actual readings of tombstones, but it is the most complete available (the Sexton's records list many who do not have headstones, so that is an added bonus!). Also, there is very little information on the many people who have been buried there since 1959, so 40 years of burials is lacking. I have included full citation of sources and notation of discrepancies so that future researchers will know what I did (it was not easy, but was worth it!). The New Woodstock Cemetery is an incredible place. It is well-kept, with carefully carved stones dating from the first years of settlement right up through to today. The adjoining church is a beautiful edifice as are many of the houses up and down Main Street. I urge everyone interested to take a drive out this summer to visit this pretty little place. Take the list with you and send me corrections!!!! to see the lists go to my web page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyccazen/ Scroll down to "What's New?" and check out my latest additions to my web pages, or Scroll down to the Cemeteries link and go from there. I have NEW READINGS of all of the cemeteries in Fenner and Nelson and I am slowly working on Cazenovia. Dan W. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyccazen/
