Spencer > > Ashael HILLS > Surnames: Hills, Shults, Hudson, Hessof > Ashael Hills, a pioneer of Green County, was born in Onondaga County, New > York, March 31, 1815; died at his home near Albany Thursday morning, Oct. 4, > 1900. He was married in 1837 to Julia A. Shults, a native of Montgomery > County, NY. In 1839 they removed to Steubens County and lived until 1849, > then came to Green County, Wisconsin, and purchased a farm on sections 29 and > 32, of the town of Albany, wehre he still resided at the time of his death. > Mrs. Hills died Feb. 12, 1881. They had one child, Helen, now the wife of > W.H. Hudson, and one granddaughter, Ada E. Hudson, now the wife of J.A. > Hessof Winona, Minn. Mr. Hills was remarkably active for a man of his age > but had failed rapidly for about two weeks previous to his death and was > taken away by an inflammation of the lungs. The funeral was held at the M.E. > Church of Albany, of which society the deceased had been a member since its > organization, the sermon being preached by Rev. H.B. Gibbons.
