There was a question as to why I didn't post these updates to Broome, Otsego, Oneida or other counties that surround Chenango and Madison counties. The answer is that I don't post to those other counties because I don't belong to those lists. I only post these updates to the mailing lists I host. As the members of the Cortland County list that decided to let me know their feelings on the cross border postings by a 14 - 3 margin in favor of such postings, they will continue. I won't overburden the lists with postings - once a week or so certainly isn't that. Cortland County - there are currently 153 subscribers to this list: 118 in mail mode and 35 in digest mode. Chenango County - there are currently 266 subscribers to this list: 196 in mail mode and 70 in digest mode. new this week on the site: History of Guilford - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/h-gilfrd.htm I've got several more towns to do, and those will be in the works next as I've now finished ------------ the remainder of the 1869 - 70 Chenango Business Directory of which the new listings are for Sherburne and Smyrna. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/1869dir.htm The interesting thing on this is that Smyrna recorded a former member of Congress and a woman photographer. The other thing is that as I read some of these names - I was saying to myself - 'I know these people', for I've got either articles or obits on several of these folks. There are other items planned for Chenango as new material continues to come in. ------------ Madison County: there are currently 260 subscribers to this list: 185 in mail mode and 75 in digest mode. I'm currently working on another Madison County cemetery which I can hopefully report on next week. Now that the Chenango Business Directory is finished I can begin further work on the 1868-69 directory for Madison County. If some of you would like to assist in getting this on-line sooner by doing some typing for me, I won't turn you down. Tim
