Am seeking further detail information and sources on the following family: I have a James P. MCVEAN b. 17 Jan 1787 Johnstown, Fulton Co., NY and d. 21 Dec 1850 poss. Cortland Co., NY. He m. Rachel GILLETT (b. 12 Apr 1796 Orange Co., NY & d. 23 Sept. 1860). Its possible they were in Cortland Co. as early as 1820, but this has not been verified. They had 11 known children: 1) Polly b. 1 Mar 1816, d. 19 Apr 1885 (buried Atwater Cem. Homer, NY); m. 24 Sep 1837 to Jacob KENNER. They at 6 known children. 2) Peter b. 29 Mar 1818, d. 3 Feb 1875 prob. Cortlandville, NY; he m. 11 Feb 1852 to Fidelia BOLLOCK. No further info is known on this line. 3) Jennet b. 9 Aug 1819 and d. 10 Aug 1819 4) Tabitha b. 16 Dec 1820 (1855 cen states b. Cortland Co.), d. 6 Apr 1858; m. 16 Feb. 1843 Solomon BAKER. They had a dau, Clarrissa A. b. 27 June 1844 and m. Lorenzo ATKINS. 5) Eliza b. 27 Nov 1822, d. 8 Feb 1871; m. 16 Feb 1843 Jared BAKER. They had 2 known children. 6) Roxany b. 31 Aug 1824, d. 13 Feb 1846. Not married. 7) Catherine "Katy" b. 7 May 1826; m. Thomas B. CRONK. No further information known on this line. 8) Jane Ann b. 25 Oct 1829, d. 14 Apr 1890; m. Franklin RICHARDSON. No issue by this marriage. 9) Samuel G. b. 13 Mar 1831, d. 14 Feb 1899 (buried Groton Rural Cem, Groton, Tompkins Co., NY); m1) Mary M. SHULER; m2) Sarah HART; m3) Sarah E. WRIGHT.
