    1. [NYCORTLA] Cornucopia!
    2. Tim Stowell
    3. Ok, it's an odd word to use for such a funny looking funnel - but it was the best word I could think of off the bat to introduce a wad of data to you. As this covers not only Madison County, but New York, Chenango and surrounding counties, I'm posting it to these lists. I spent a good portion of today formatting and loading the following: 1872 History of Madison County: Chapter 13 - Nelson. Chapter 16 - Stockbridge. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nymadiso/1872hist.htm 1899 History of Madison County: Chapter 1 - Descriptive of the Subject. Chapter 3 - First Settlement - Trails and Roads. Chapter 14 - Progress of improvement in towns - Cazenovia. Chapter 22 - Progress of improvement in towns - Stockbridge. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nymadiso/1899hist.htm Well I guess you now know my naming convention! There's more to come. I've got a pot load of Chenango and more Madison County material to add. Tax time looms though, so we'll see. Tim

    1. [NYCORTLA] Horace and Eleazor Craft
    2. Seeking fates of Horace Craft (born 1812 in Chenango NY) and his brother Eleazor Craft (born 1802 in Chenango,NY). Both living in Taylor area of Cortland in 1870 census then were apparently abducted by aliens since I can find no trace after that.

    1. [NYCORTLA] Death of a Friend
    2. Tim Stowell
    3. It is with deepest regret that I bring you the following news. This morning, 1 March 2003, our good friend Mike Hollingsworth host of A Bit of the Past - Madison County, NY - http://www.borg.com/~mcholli/ joined another friend of ours, Doug Ingalls, in the great beyond. He had been hospitalized the last couple of weeks prior to his death this morning. I had made his acquaitance online several years ago. We've exchanged notes and spoke on the phone a couple of times. He was a valuable asset to me as I questioned him on Madison County history. Like Doug before him, he too will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family in this time of sorrow. Tim

    2. Patricia Givens Warner-Woolschlager
    3. I am seeking information regarding Uriah H Clark, born in Dryden, Tompkins Co.,NY in 1829 and died in Harford, Cortland Co., NY in 1889. His mother was Joanna Clark who was born in Harford, Cortland Co., NY. On the death record for Uriah all that was said that his father was born in Lisle, Broome Co., NY. No name was listed. Uriah Clark married Anna Bishop born 1836 in Dryden, Tompkins Co., NY died 1872 in Harford, Cortland Co., NY. Her parents were Joel Bishop 1805 - 1881 and Maria Head 1808 - 1872. I've been told that they were natives of Lansing, but came to Dryden where he engaged in the manufacture of guns. Uriah and Anna are my great great grandparents.

    1. [NYCORTLA] what's happening
    2. Tim Stowell
    3. First of all I'm glad to see the Cortland County coordinator, Vicki Titus, is back and recovered from her recent illness. She has been missed. As for myself, I have recently been under the gun and have had to spend an inordinate amount of time tied up with 2 to 3 weeks of depositions in my every moment online leaving near zero time to update the sites and get material online for you folks. Now that this has gone a step further in the process, it is my hope that I can now once again concentrate on the sites, my love and joy. Tim

    1. [NYCORTLA] Cortland Co. Website query update
    2. Vicki Titus
    3. Hi I usually don't post updates to the Cortland site to this list, since notices to the site are listed on their own mailing list. No reason to junk up the archives and/or peoples inboxes with notices they don't want. However, this time I am going to make an exception because of the impact of some of the changes. I have now got the queries up to date after my absence. I lumped them all into 1 file, since it wasn't that much bigger than a regular update. However, if you have any trouble loading it, please let me know. (That applies for any page on the site.). The queries are located at : http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycortla/qsys/coq0224.htm The index for the queries is getting large. If you want an easy way to find queries for your name, simply type queries and then your surname into the search engine and it will bring up a list of pages they appear on. I have added a note to this effect in both the query front end and the search engine page. Now, I can work on adding original content, working on the backload generated by the wonderful people who type content for the site. In addition, I have 2 PDF's to be added to the site and hope to have couple of more in the near future. These will not be added to the search engine, but since the first 2 are largely maps, it should be ok. Vicki Hall Titus CC Cortland Co. GenWeb

    1. [NYCORTLA] Schuyler Wilcox of Truxton, New York
    2. Michael
    3. I am searching for information regarding a Schuyler Wilcox, who was born abt. 1808 in Truxton, Cortland Co., New York. I found him in the 1840 U.S. census in Georgetown, Madison Co. New York, married to a Marilla Perry. They married abt. 1832. According to the death certificates of two of their children, it states that Schuyler was born in Truxton. I find 3 separate Wilcox families in Truxton in the 1820 U.S. census: Jesse Wilcox Eber Wilcox Asher Wilcox Asher definitely doesn't fit, so it leaves Jesse & Eber as possible parents of Schuyler. If anyone might have information regarding Schuyler and\or his family, it would be greatly appreciated. Michael Seamans
