    1. [NYCORTLA] Homer Baptist Church
    2. Mary Dobard
    3. I have partial copies of three pages from this church book and have questions about the abbreviations on the pages. For instance, on the page under "List of Members dismissed ,etc from the Church" there is "date" space "a e i o u," "name" and then "Dis Exc Dro Died". Does the Exc mean excommunicated? Dro mean dropped? Does anyone know for what reason a person would be excommunicated? Dropped? These pages are dated 1864-1866. I don't recall a title page but have a copy of the book cover which just has " Baptist Church Homer". Appreciate all comments. Mary

    3. First of all the post below was originally sent 5/19. Due to the wonders of technology occasionally flubbing - this mail got sent again. It's in my go figure box. I don't have anything for Delaware County unless it gets mentioned by some of the texts yet to go online. I believe I have everything I've got in mind to go online - at least for the forseeable future listed on the county page under future items. This isn't to say something won't surface - but as of now I know of no such items. Tim At 03:23 PM 6/21/03 -0700, Sharon Paulson wrote: >Hi Tim, >Thanks for all of your wonderful work. 1. [NYCORTLA] Original store ledger found - 1863-1864 - DeRuyter, New York
    2. Michael
    3. Greetings to everyone... I don't know if this will interest anyone or not, but I have come across an original store ledger from the Quincy Square store in DeRuyter, New York that runs from July 9, 1863 to May 10, 1864. This ledger contains all of the patrons of the Quincy Square store, as run by J. Warren Merchant, during this time period. Although it doesn't seem to contain any vital information (I've only gone through 150+ pages so far), it does contain the names of the store patrons & in some instances, it does make reference to sons or daughters buying goods for family members. At the very least, it is very interesting what these people purchased during this timeperiod and what they paid for these goods. I am going on vacation (as of today :0), so when I get back, I will attempt to start transcribing all of the names & information so that it can be submitted to the Madison, Chenango, and Cortland County Rootsweb sites. Since DeRuyter is located very close to the "tri-county" area, this is why I am posting this e-mail to these lists. If anyone is interested in seeing if their ancestors are listed in this book, please reply to me (off-list, so as to not create a ton of list mail) and I will see what I can do. All I ask is that people be patient with me, as it will take a long time to transcribe this work (there's well over 300+ pages here), and it will take time to reply to the many e-mails that I will no doubt get. Also keep in mind that I will be on vacation for a week & I usually get about 1000+ e-mails when I return from a week-long vacation. Michael Seamans

    3. Does anyone have access to the newspaper(s) in Cortland from 1923? I am looking for the Obituary of Mary Elizabeth (Lee) Crysler (or Chrysler). She was called "Libby". I found an announcement from the Worcester Times announcing that she had died in Cortland on Friday, Feb 23 and that her daughter was with her in Cortland when she died. I am guessing that she was buried in Cortland also. She died on 23 Feb 1923, so the obit should have appeared in the next couple of days and perhaps a burial notice soon after that. Thanks, Leah
