    1. Thanks & suggestion

    3. Hello list, I want to thank everyone on the list for their answers to my query about not having access to genealogy data unless one is a registered genealogist. Just an idea y'all might want to consider, as one gentleman suggested to me, simply register as a genealogist at the town/wherever you plan to visit. TAhanks again. 1. Access to records
    2. max
    3. Hello everyone... I have a question. Please read the paragraph below, received from a newly-found 2md cousin, within her email. Can anyone tell me if there is any way around the apparently new rule to allow only registered genealogists to have access to records in CT. Thanks, Max --- portion of letter from my cousin--- My trip was great until I arrived in Conn. Thursday AM I went to the City Hall in Stamford to look up names, etc. and was told the records are closed to the general public, one must be a registered geneaologist to get to look at the files. Have been told this is since 9-11. Guess much has changed since 9-11, even town records, which were always available to everyone. ___________________________________________________ Check-out GO.com GO get your free GO E-Mail account with expanded storage of 6 MB! http://mail.go.com

    3. Chapter 10 - from the 1880 history of Chenango and Madison counties just went on line: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nymadiso/1880-10.htm This mainly deals with the building of the Erie and Chenango canals plus early railroading history - mainly of Madison County. However, several other surrounding counties are mentioned as they sold bonds to finance either the canals or railroads. Quite a fascinating chapter, with 49 footnotes! Tim

    1. [NYCORTLA] Clarification on Marathon Cemetery
    2. Tim Stowell
    3. Previously I stated: Cortland County: I've revamped the 'A' section of the Marathon Cemetery to what I hope makes it easier for viewers to see versus what previously existed. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycortla/mvcem/mvcema.htm To see what it did look like visit any other letter - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycortla/mvcem/ ==================== I did not do any changes to existing data. What was there, is still there. All I've done is change the way the material was presented to the public. I've added what I hope is a contrasting background and grouped the data closer together so the page is shorter - ie less scrolling needed. Thanks to those who've pointed out some broken links and who've asked about what's there for now I know what else may need 'adjusting'. ------------------------------------------------------via webmail---- Tim Stowell [email protected]

    3. Just to let you nice folks know I've not dropped off the face of the planet. I'm leaving tomorrow for Wisconsin, to return a book I borrow from a cousin. It contained the history of two Wisconsin counties and was published in 1884. It took me 5 years to type and format the 1300 pages. Several New York folks are mentioned therein - by county. I hope to do a link in to them as one of my projects for 2004. Anyway, I'll be gone until the 27th or 28th, then I've got a basketload to do. Tim

    1. [NYCORTLA] Hyatt,Joseph, Lucretia Raplee Hyatt, Minnah Hyatt, and St Patrick Cemetery update
    2. Marilyn Bess
    3. Good Morning, this is an update of the responses that I received to my Hyatt and other family posting and for information regarding Joseph and Anna buried in St, Patrick's Cemetery in the City of Geneva, Ontario County, NY. First I did some research and came up with Seymour Hyatt also who died in the City of Geneva. The woman who read ST.Patrick Cemetery was one who responded and offered to help. She looked up the death certificates in the city of Geneva for me and this is what she found "SEYMOUR HYATT - Died 19 March 1892; age 70-2-12; occupation: steamboatCapt.; born Burdett NY; Father: Samuel, born Orange Co.; Mother; Filanda Bennett, born unknown; died Geneva NY of consumption; attending physician: Dr. M. D. Blaine; burial: Geneva NY; JOSEPH HYATT - Died 1 February 1899; age 79; occupation: pilot; born Schuyler Co. NY; resident of Geneva 60 years; Father: Samuel Hyatt, born Schuyler Co. NY; Mother: Lucinda Hyatt, born Schuyler Co. NY; died of old age; attending physician: Dr. N. M. McCaw; buried Geneva NY." These are recorded in the first two early death books in the City Clerk's office in the City of Geneva, Ontario County NY. Thank you Darwina. I had several other responses and some inf is coming by snail mail. but I still need information on the David and Joseph Hiatt that are listed on the 1800 Cayuga, NY census and Revolutionary soldiers Minnah and Alvin Hayatt or Hyatt that received grants in Cortland and Seneca Counties. David and Joseph are listed in the following census in Yates, Seneca, Tompkins. Minnah is listed on the 1800 make up census for Cortland and died about 1818. I would appreciate any other information that any one would be willing to share onthese or related families. Thank you Marilyn Carson Bess --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 1. [NYCORTLA] FRY - Allen Mill?
    2. I'm looking for information on Amherst FRY and his wife Mary BURLINGAME. They lived in Cortland County from about 1828-1838 then moved on to Knox County, Illinois. They had at least 5 children born in what is written as "Allen's Mill" In 1830 and 1835 I see them on the town census for Virgil. Has anyone heard of Allen Mill near Virgil? Jodi in Seattle
