    1. Zephaniah PARKER
    2. Charmaine Riley Holley
    3. Is there anyone on the list who knows anything about Zephaniah PARKER? He was married to a Philinda ? They are on the 1850 census report in Cortland Co. with four children: Fernando, John, Almira, and Zephaniah, Jr. In 1860 Philinda is living in Waushara Co., WI married to Timothy SPAULDING with children Fernando, John, Orris, and Sarah PARKER as well as a couple of SPAULDING children. An Abel PARKER of NY is living next door. I am trying to locate a child of Solomon PARKER who died in Cortland Co. in 1850 (moved there by 1815) whose name is mentioned in the administration records with siblings. It looks like Sphonia PARKER but I think that this child is a male and Zephaniah is as close to this as I have come. I've been working on fixing broken links and/or link changes due to making this move. This past week, Dan's widow sent me a cornucopia of material both in paper and digitial form for both sites. Tim

    1. O'Connor - Truxton and/or Homer
    2. Joan or Robert Dwyer
    3. I am researching Edmund O'Connor, born about 1832, Cork, Ireland. Information we have so far: He is listed as a farmhand for Daniel Duncan, Homer, in 1855 Cortland County Population Census (was this a N.Y. state population register?) Declaration of intention, Homer, Cortland County, 1855. He is listed as Edmond Connors at this time. Affidavit stating that Edmond Connors in the 1855 declaration is the same person as Edmund O'Connor, applying for homestead in Big Stone County, Minnesota, 1885. Edmund and his wife, Margaret Dinneen were married in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1860. They lived in Minneapolis until they moved to Big Stone County, Minnesota in the 1870's, to Graceville, one of Bishop John Ireland's Catholic Colonies. Some correspondence by another relative suggests a relationship between Edmund O'Connor and the O'Connor families of Homer and Truxton, namely John O'Connor, including Marcella O'Connor Dwyer and Patricia O'Connor O'Donnell, C. Leonard O'Connor, and John D. O'Connor. I have found several of these people in Fedral census records but have nothing beyond 1930. A relative spoke with some descendants of Cornelius O'Connor and Bridget Halloran/O'Halloran of Cortland County and received some information about the Halloran family. I am trying to establish a relationship between the two O'Connor families, those who settled in Minnesota and those who remained in Cortland County. I know the above information is somewhat sketchy, but that is what I have at the moment. Is anyone on the list familiar with any of the above families? Joan Dwyer Minneapolis, Minnesota

    1. New York Mortality Index
    2. The LDS Church has some microfilms, but there doesn't seem to be anything for Cortland County. Gloria Lester >>^. .^<< Title Mortality schedules of the United States census, 1850 - 1880 (New York State) Authors United States. Census Office (Main Author) Notes Microfilm of originals and transcripts at the New York State Archives, Albany, New York. Includes the names of persons who died during the years ending June 30, 1850; June 1, 1860; June 1, 1870, and May 31, 1880. Some information overlaps on films. For census of New York City, 1870, there is a section where the names of the deceased are recorded by month of death and then grouped by first letter of the last name. The months are intermixed and are not always in alphabetical order. Names for New York City and Brooklyn in the 1880 census are listed by month of death.

    1. Federal Mortality Census Index
    2. This is from Ancestry: Part of the U.S. Federal Censuses from 1850-1880 included a mortality schedule enumerating the individuals who had died in the previous year. Because each of the censuses from 1850-1880 began on June 1, "previous year" refers to the 12 months preceding June 1, or June 1 (of the previous year) to May 31 (of the census year).
