    1. [NYCOLUMB] FW: Palatine's To America TriCenteneal Celebration
    2. Jim Groat
    3. John agreed to my forwarding this to some of the lists where the Palatines originated. I raised this earlier on the lists and got considerable response. However, do to age related health issues and a couple of projects I'm trying to put to bed, I wasn't up to handling the organization and oversight of the project. Thankfully John has stepped forward and already made major inroads. Anything anyone can do to support John in this effort would be greatly appreciated, I'm sure. This is going to be a BIG event! To John - Again my heartfelt thanks for taking up the cause. Regards, Jim Groat _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, October 02, 2006 3:13 PM Subject: Palatine's To America TriCenteneal Celebration The New York Chapter of Palatines to America is planning a celebration of the three hundredth anniversary of the arrival of the Palatines in the Hudson Valley. The celebration will be held in or near Kingston in June 2010. It currently is in the advanced planning stage. Speakers will include Hank Z. Jones and Phillip Otterness as well as others versed in the Palatine history and the genealogy research of our German speaking ancestors. This celebration will include tours to areas significant to the arrival of the Palatines. A trip to Nuttin Island (now Governors Island) has been discussed but has not yet been finalized. A planning meeting is scheduled for 7 pm 6 Oct 2006 in Saugerties in conjunction with the fall meeting of the New York Chapter in Saugerties. Anyone interested in attending or helping at a later date is welcome. Contact [email protected] for further information. The Germantown Historian has a committee that is planning a year long celebration which will include dedication of a Historic Monument to commemorate the East Camp. I read your comments on roots web which expressed interest in this subject and I hope you will join our celebration of our Palatine Ancestors.
