Spencer was the son of Amos Spencer and Ruth Strait of E. Greenwith, RI. Ruth was Amos`s third wife. She died in 1808 when David was 4 years old. Amos`s Spencer`s first wife was Mercy Spencer, his cousin. Children of Mercy and Amos went to Stephentown to live after Mercy died. Likewise David F. Spencer was also taken to Stephentown to be with his relatives who included his older siblings and the twin sisters of Amos`s first wife Mercy Spencer who were named Audra and Elinor Spencer. They had mar. two Carr brothers and had moved to Stephentown pre 1800. `Deacon Carr` is mentioned in the Holcomb diary as being involved with the Baptist Meeting House in Lebanon Springs. Did he live there also? Audra and Elinore are bur. in the large Stephentown Cemetery. Is there any information about `Carr` from Lebanon Springs and particularly the Baptist Meetinghouse? Where did the Carrs live? A family that went with David F. Spencer all the way to NW Ohio in Ful! ton Co. by the name of Rensselaer Humphrey has an entry in the Holcomb Diary which tells of the funeral at the Baptist Meeting house in Lebanon Springs for the wife of Rensselaer Humphrey in 1837(Betsey). Is this Rensselaer Humphrey the son of Josiah C. Humphrey? Who was Betsey Humphrey? Thanks. Wendell Spencer
