I have been trying to track my ancestor, James Lanagan into New York for a couple years now and have come up with nothing. He was supposed to have been born in 1846 in New York (county unknown) but I haven't been able to find him in any census until 1870 in Erie, PA. Thanks for your help! Katie Rennie
