Hi, I have only just discovered for sure that my great grandfather's only brother, who was born in England in 1850 left for the United States in about 1866, and after briefly settling in N.Y. City, where he married at the age of eighteen to an even younger Scottish bride. Sometime later he moved up the Hudson and in the 1880 census the family is shown as living in the First Ward of Hudson, he as a clergyman. From the census it appears that he lived a few doors down the road from Father Smith the Catholic priest and even closer to one of the town's saloons. I do not know my uncle's denomination, but his brother was a Congregationalist and probably he was too. Does anyone know if a Congregational, or possibly a Presbyterian, church existed in Hudson at this time, or anything about these Wilsons? They had a son, Alfred B. born in 1872 and a daughter, Eva C. born in 1874. Many thanks for any help you can pass my way, Nick
Hi Nick, You might want to take another look at that image if you have access to it. After careful study of if through two different subscription serves it looks very much like "Frank C." rather that "Nicholas". Wish I could help you more.
