East Camp William Edwards married Christina Schmidt,& were sponsored by William Hoff, 1789. I would like to discover which Schmidt family Christina descends from, and what connection Wm Hoff has to the Smith family .The Hoffs show up with several sponsorships with the Smiths. William Hoff appears to be born on Livingston Manor 1714. Perhaps there are descendents of the Edwards, Schmidt, or Hoff families who have these answers, or clues?. Bruce, Hank Jones' "The Palatine Families of New York - 1710" makes reference to a number of Schmidt-Hoff connections, primarily sponsorships at baptisms. I suspect there were a number of Schmidt-Hoff marriages. One that stuck out in particular was as follows: Wilhelm Hoff, the son of Johan Daniel Hoff, b. in Livingston Manor, married 8 Dec 1741 a Germantown Ref Ch. Maria Magdalena Michel. Their second daughter Elisabetha was bap. 10 Jun 1744 at Red Hook Luth. Ch. She married 29 Nov 1762 at Red Hook Luth Ch., Philip Schmidt. This is just a long shot in the dark since there are a great number of Hoff's in the area at the time and an even greater number of Schmidts. I strongly suggest that you check with the local library to see if you can get a copy of Jones' book. It is an invaluable tool for anyone researching the Palatine families of the Hudson River Valley. Jones has a web site where his books are for sale but they are a bit pricey. I hope this helps a bit.
