I descend from a Simeon Marsh of Connecticut whose wife was supposed to have been named Eunice Lathrop. I don't think it's just "family folklore" since for the next few generations (this was around the time of the Revolution) many of our Marsh ancestors gave sons the middle name of "Lathrop", as if to keep the memory alive. My Simeon apparently died in Connecticut (possibly Fairfield) about the time the Revolution began. His oldest son, John Lathrop Marsh, sided with the British and moved to Canada where he married a local girl, Sarah Estabrooks, and raised a family. (He lived in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada). But the three youngest sons (Simeon, Thomas Lathrop, and Solomon Marsh) all moved down to North Carolina with their widowed mother, Eunice Lathrop Marsh. (I'm a direct descendant of both Simeon and Solomon Marsh). We have been trying desperately to track down our Eunice Lathrop Marsh but so far with 0 success, and it's getting discouraging!! We had thought she was the daughter of (I think!!) Hope Lathrop, but I could have that wrong, I get so confused over all these names!!! I think she was supposed to have been born around 1732 in Tolland, CT. But we could always have the WRONG Eunice Lathrop: there are so many of them!!! I also heard that our Eunice's mother may have moved in her later years to Dutchess Co, NY??? ANY help you could give me would be so much appreciated!!!! Thanks!
