    3. Hi Jim, My Columbia Counties are all in good shape. I visited them a couple of weekends ago. The disaster is the Leestown Community Ground in southeast Dutchess County. I drove past it many times before someone told me exactly where it was. There are only a couple of tombstones standing, and not many more findable. One of my revolutionary war ancestors is buried in it according to Poucher'a readings, so I am very anxious to try to make order out of the chaos. Which cemetery is it you are thinking of? The earliest grave of my family that I have found is in the Kittle Cemetery in Ghent. When I visited it, it was a mess! I would love to restore it but distance and age kinda' limits my activies. I'm going to order the kit anyhow. I'm a member and $15 is well worth it to settle my curiousity. | -----Original Message----- | From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] | On Behalf Of Barbara de Mare | Sent: Friday, June 22, 2007 10:19 AM | To: [email protected]; [email protected] | Subject: Re: [NYCOLUMB] Edward Wheeler, Thankful Crippen, Davis Cemetery | | The Columbia County Historical Society sells a package for restoring old | cemeteries. I bought one last weekend--$15 members; 20 non-members. | | Fro m what I understand your first step is to find out who owns the | cemetery. This information can be obtained from the tax maps. The | cemetery that I am interested in restoring is owned by "the heirs of the | people buried there," and the address is the address of the cemetery. I'm | sure they have gotten lots of messages! Now I have to figure out what to | do next. | | Barbara | ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
