He is buried in Columbia County, NY at a cemetery called "Davis Cemetery". It is just off County Route 9 on current day Haddock Hill Road adjacent to Bradleys Crossing Road (both dirt roads). The cemetery is in the wooded field north of the intersection of roads mentioned about 50 feet and difficult to get to. It appears there are about 24 grave sites from the early 1800's. Does anyone know who owns this land? Is there any sort of cemetery ethics or creed that should be adhered to as this cemetery is on the verge of disappearing which is disappointing? Any input would be appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The Columbia County Historical Society sells a package for restoring old cemeteries. I bought one last weekend--$15 members; 20 non-members. Fro m what I understand your first step is to find out who owns the cemetery. This information can be obtained from the tax maps. The cemetery that I am interested in restoring is owned by "the heirs of the people buried there," and the address is the address of the cemetery. I'm sure they have gotten lots of messages! Now I have to figure out what to do next. Barbara "[email protected]" <[email protected]> wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
