My Horace Phillips ended up in Wolcott, NY. He was born in 1817 and named a daughter Lavina that got me to thinking maybe she was named after a relative of his. I also found a death notice, from Stuyvesant, NY, in the family Bible. It was for a Sarah Helen Hull. Her mother was Sarah Phillips (Clapp) so I figured, to be in the family Bible she must be connected to our Phillips. That was how I made the leap to Columbia Co. I have no idea where Horace was born, he married a Sarah VanValkenburg in Glenville, NY. Does any of this fit with your Phillips?
