Hi Jim, I had been working of the assumption that Gitty Maria and Margaret were the same woman. I've seen the Mellenville Cemetery records for John Harder and wife, but haven't seen a burial record for Gertrude Maria. Could you offer a citation for that? A thought comes to mind. I've noticed that in some baptismal records Geddy or Gitty is used for girls also named Catharine. I wonder if this Claverack baptism is the one you're looking for: 199, #4352, 1807, 1.4. Catharine Maria, born (12).4.1806, of David Becker and Maria van Benshoten. Sponsors the parents. Also note that she had a brother Thunis baptized same place: 148, #3225, 1799, 8.11. Thunis, born 7.22, of David Decker and Maria van Benshoten. Sponsors the parents. Maybe there was an earlier born older sister Margaret that I haven't seen a record for? John first married Gertrude Maria Becker (1806 - 1838) at Kinderhook Ref. Ch. 11 Feb 1826. They had 6 children: Margaret Maria 1827, Eunice Amanda 1829, Allen 1830, George Latten 1832, Maria 1834, and Tunis Becker 1836. John second married Margaret Becker (1792 - 1868) at Ghent 30 Nov 1839. They had no children. Margaret was the widow of William Ten Broeck (1792-1836, s/o Samuel J. & Christyntje), married at Claverack Ref. Ch. 28 Nov 1813. They had 7 shildren: Davis Samuel 1814, Walter Van Rensselaer 1817, Peter Van Rensselaer 1817, Jacob Lawrence 1819, William Ambrose 1823, Cornelia Christina 1824, and Jeremiah 1825. The name of John & Gertrude’s son Tunis Becker is a clue and she may be a daughter of Tunis Becker & Elizabeth Best, but no record. Margaret isn’t their daughter because they married in 1797 and had another daughter Margaret/Gritje. This Harder family (not related to the 1710 Palatine group) had a close relationship with Antonius Becker & Anna Eva Dick a couple of generations earlier, but I don’t know if/how they relate to Gertrude and Margaret.
