    2. Cliff Lamere
    3. Kinderhook got 5" of rain yesterday. New Lebanon got 4½". Other parts of the county got significant rain. As of this morning, 59 roads were closed in the county due to flooding. Train service from the city of Hudson southward had been halted for the same reason. http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=826088&category=New%20York%20State&BCCode=&newsdate=7/30/2009 Cliff Lamere

    2. Hope you are safe! Lots of rain in such a short period of time. It has been over 100 for the past 22 days here in Redding, California. It was 113 for two days. Our summers are always hot, but we have low humidity and it cools off at night. Enjoy you genealogy informaion and history 'lessons'. My families (SMITH-MOUL-BASSETT-NELSON) were in Rensselaer. Columbia and Saratoga counties in the early 1800 or before. Your Feb. 2009 informaion about Dutch names was very helpful. My gr gr grandfather was Peter SMITH Jr. so I thought his father must be Sr. Your informaion has me searching in other directions too. My gr grandfather was Peter P. SMITH, b. 1822, may have used "P" as his middle initial because his father was also Peter. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Mary (SMITH) ELKINS > Kinderhook got 5" of rain yesterday.
