    1. [NYCOLUMB] Chappenville, CT./ Columbia County, NY
    2. Perhaps someone can assist with some advice. I have late 1700, early 1800, Chapin family from Chapinville, CT. It is written in a Salisbury Historical site that Chapinville was started by a group of twenty Dutchmen from Rhinebeck, NY.which is close by. I am trying to find out more about Chapinville. Apparently it was between Rhinebeck/ North East, and Twin Lakes.and Salisbury CT. but after the Border dispute between NY and CT Chappenville became Taconic Town in NY, which may have included Hillsdale ? A Salisbury CT historical site lists this information, but the Columbia County site for the area doesn't have a glimmer of this history. Would anyone have a suggestion where I could discover more about this Chappinville, and its early people ?. That early in time I have begun to believe that the Village of Chapinville must have been named for part of this Chapin family. Thanks for any suggestions, or pointers. My Smiths were in Germantown and Clermont, Columbia, on the Manor. Best wishes, Bruce M. Smith, Bayside, CA.
