The question is who were Amos King Jr's parents would anyone know? The record gives that he died in his 38th year and was probably a veteran of the War of 1812. His birth then backed up would indicate that he was born in 1787. We know from our history handed down through the DAR that in our known line both the oldest sons of Amos and Hopestill (Haskins/Hoskins) King were Nahum born July 1783 and his next brother William Oliver born 1785 (both in New Salem, Hampshire County, Massachusetts) were veterans of this same war in Ohio. They were followed by Lovisa in 1789 and Lydia in 1791 with Hopestill or Isaac born in 1793. Until recently it was thought that Hopestill Haskins King was the mother of 10 children but that would have made her ancient in the respect of children born in her 60th year. This would mean that we have to go back to the drawing board and figure out who the first 6 children were by name and age.
