The reason for my interest is because of my ancestor Sarah Norman, who I know little of, who was supposed to have been born in Hudson, NY on 10 Feb 1815. Sarah Norman married a Fredercik Wood (1815-1877) before 1841 most likely New York City. Sarah Norman Wood died in Bridgeport, CT on 25 Feb 1893. I noted William E Norman in a transcript of the Hudson City, NY cemetery at the Columbia County, NJ USGen Web site. William E Norman was born in about 1778 in Wellington, Somersetshire, England and died in Hudson on 13 Nov 1828. The headstone for William's wife Rachel indicates she was born on Nantucket Island and and died at the age of 68 on 23 Aug 1848 in Hudson. There are also three headstones for three children on William E and Rachel Norman: 1. Robert C or O, eldest son of William E & Rachel, Sept 4, 1802 - May 27, 1830 2. Sarah, daughter of W.E. and & Rachel, Feb 4, 1814, 3 m. 3. Elizabeth, daughter, Sept 1, 1819, 4 m., 18 d. It is interesting that "my" Sarah Norman, wife of Frederick Wood, was born a year after the death of the Sarah Norman buied in Hudson. If "my" Sarah Norman is the daughter of William E and Rachel Norman she was likely named for the Sarah Norman who died as an infant in 1814. Would appreciate hearing from anyone having an interest in this Norman family of Hudson, NY or having any information that might confirm that "my" Sarah Norman was a daughter of William E and Rachel Norman.
