Is that the one on 401 Union Street in Hudson? My great-great-grandparents, Morris and Kathryn Higgins both died in Hudson, Kathryn in 1863 and Morris in 1879. Clare, The only way for you to know is to inquire at the local level. On the state level, New York State did not require vital records until 1880 but they were not enforced until some years later. But, go ahead and inquire at the local level since they may have kept some records or know where some may be stored for that time period.
