    3. Hi Carol, Kelly's transcription of the baptism record you cited indicates the child was "unlawful" or illegitimate, so it's not surprising there are no other children born to this couple. There are 2 possibilities in Kinship's area church records for S. Schultis: Sebastian bapt. Christ Luth. Germantown 1764, b. 6 Aug 1764 s/o Henrich Schultes & Maria; sponsor Bast. Loescher Note Bast. = Bastian = Sebastian. Palatine genealogist HZ Jones has Anna Maria Loescher wife of Henrich Schultis bapt. 11 Jan 1732 d/o Georg Loescher, and Georg was son of 1710 immigrant Sebastian Loescher. This couple had other children: Georg 1760, Johannes 1762, Anna Maria 1763 (all bapt Ch. Luth. Germ.), Eliesabetha 1757, and Philipus 1755 (bapt. Germ. Reformed). Jones doesn't show any Henrich Schultes born about 1730 and I didn't find a baptism for him. Bastian bapt. Germantown Reformed Ch. 5 Jan 1771, s/o Bernhard Schultes & Phronica (Veronica) Lescher; sponsors Bastian Jacobi & wife Cath. Schultes. Jones shows Veronica bapt. 2 Feb 1739 as the sister of Anna Maria above. There is unconfirmed info that Henrich and Bernhard were sons of Johann Philip Schultheis who d. 10/22/1784 and Anna Maria Remagen. I think it’s fairly certain that Samuel descended from this Schultis/Loescher group, but it may be difficult to clarify it. 3. As you said, it will be difficult to 'prove' who his father actually was unless I find a will, etc. Samuel's mother Elizabeth Hart, was the daughter of William & Elizabeth Hotaling Hart. They also had Rebecca and William Orin Hart. thank you for your reply.
