    3. Loree, NY birth certificates began to be issued in 1881. Church records are the best source of birth information for 1834. An Episcopal church in Hudson was Christ Church which began about 1803. St. Mary's Catholic Church started in 1847, too late for you. You can contact Christ Church by using the following link to all Episcopal churches in Columbia County. http://www.albanyepiscopaldiocese.org/churches/columbia.html I could not find a website for the church. It sounds like any Catholic church record keeping might not have begun until 1841.
