At one time the settlement was known as "Bain's Corners," from Peter Bain, who kept a hotel there and owned considerable surrounding property. In 1870 the Bain interests passed to Peter Crary, when the name of the place was changed to Craryville. It is a station on the Harlem Railroad." >From the book "Baptismal Record of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manorton, N.Y. 1765-1872 (Lutheran Church of Livingston), transcribed and indexed by Arthur C. If you go to my UsGenNet website at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/columbia/ you will find a lot of information on Crary. Also try Google Books, I did a search for Humphrey Crary genealoyg and there is a book entitled "Genealogy of the descendants of William Chesebrough of Boston, Rehoboth, Mass." which mentions the birth of Humphrey son of Nathan Crary and Sarah Palmer April 23, 1781. Hoping this helps some. Susan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
