I grew up near both, on the border of Columbia Co & Rennselaer Co (Brainard area) - so I imagined both families were somehow prominent in the local history to have a town and a mountain named after them! Legend has it that my dad dragged my mother, fresh outta suburban NJ, up to the top of Curtis Mountain to propose to her. Not that it matters to your history research, of course!
