Has anyone ever heard of the existence of another version of the 1820 census for Columbia? The microfilmed version at the National Archives is in more or less alphabetical order, meaning the enumerator transcribed the info from someplace. Does the original exist someplace? The reason I ask is because I have run across a reference to a Debbe Francis Dutcher and a Henry Dutcher in the 1820 census for Claverack. The reference has hash marks in the right number of columns. But I can't find them there. I can't find them any time or anywhere. I know to not trust this kind of reference without checking out the source, but there is nothing at all close to what this reference cites. Was it made up completely? How else to explain the missing data. That, or there is another version of the census for Columbia. Any help anyone can give me to figure out this puzzle would be appreciated. thanks, Sharon
