Greetings all. My ggg grandmother was named Esther Dickinson (or various spelling) and was born in Canaan, Columbia County in 1774. She married Rufus Bentley in about 1794. I have written to the state, county, and town seeking her birth record in order to identify her parents. No one has any information on her, not even the town historian. She says there are no town records prior to 1878. Do any of you know of a way to trace ancestors born in Columbia County in the 1700s? Thanks, Judy Drake Phoenix, AZ
