The following was posted in the Somebody's Links Newsletter, November 1, 2001, I thought it might help someone. o I received the Civil War pension records for Edward FINK, born 24 April 1825, in the Columbia or Rensselear County area of New York. The records do not give his birthplace or parents' names. (I believe that this Edward FINK may have had a brother named Willis C. FINK.) Edward FINK was married to Julia Ann VAN DEUSEN on November 21st or 25th, 1849 or 1850 in Nassau Village, Rensselear County, New York, by the Rev. POTTER. (The marriage date varies in the records I have, which span about 25 years.) They had at least two children: Charles E. FINK, born 12 January 1853 in Hudson, New York; and Willis C. FINK, born 15 February 15 1864 in New York City, New York. Edward FINK enlisted in New York in the 67th Regiment NYSV as a 1st Class Musician on 1 August 1861. This regiment is listed as having been from Long Island, New York and having begun as the 70th and then became the 67th. He was discharged at camp near Warwick Court House on 18 April 1862. He reenlisted as a 2nd Lt. with Co. I 125 NYSV in August 1862. According to a medical report in the file, Edward FINK came down with something in November 1862 that became much worse and he was honorably discharged 20 February 1863. After his discharge, Edward FINK lived in Troy, New York until fall 1863 when he and his family moved to New York City, where his address in 1898 was 415 East 84th Street. In 1905, he and the family moved to Rockville Centre, Nassau County, New York, where two his wife's brothers had moved in the 1870s. Edward FINK died on his birthday, 24 April 1913. Julia applied for Widow's Benefits on 19 May 1913 at which time her address was 296 Lakeview Avenue, Rockville Centre, New York. If I can offer further information please let me know. Grstmll@aol.com
