    1. [NYCOL] Carley family in W. Copake or any oblong areas
    2. Tracie Lefler
    3. Hi Susan and others who were so quik and helpful on my inquiry. Please let me focus and amplify- the name may be spelled as it was when the family landed near Boston in 1637 or when they founded Leicester, Ma, That was Kerley. It is also spelled later as Carlee or Carle or several others. Some of then were in Fairfield Ct and then up in NW Conn. and then in the Oblong and some went to Vt. In the 1800s many of the branches went up the Mohawk and some went into the Finger Lakes-others went to Watertown. Because my ggggrandfather was James and was born about 1796, and because he was later,1813or14, to marry Chestina Treman d/o Jared Treman of Hillsdale, we are looking hard at Columbia County. Because he died in 1818 with no record as far as we have searched, and because Chestina Treman Carley is only proved, aside from our family tradition, by mention in her fathers will, we are looking hard at different spellings and places. There were a lot of Carleys in the Oblong, I need a ! James of some spelling and born near 1796. Tks Bob
