Hello Listers, After being off the List for awhile, I have discovered some new names that I believe may have been in Columbia Co. I'm glad to be back! If any of this information sounds familiar I would love to hear from you. As always, I am happy to share data and sources. In a document recently received from the Archives of Montreal, Quebec I have noted the following: Elizabeth (WHEELER) SMITH (living in St. Armand, at the time), widow of Jehiel SMITH who died after 16 Jan 1804 and before April 1804, in Stanbridge, Lower Canada (now Missiquoi Co. Quebec) names the following children--- 1. David SMITH---where was he born? 2. Ephraim Wheeler SMITH-----ditto 3. John SMITH, (I know that he was b. 1769 in NY, probably Lebanon Springs. He lived in Hancock, MA and is buried in Mott Cemetery, Lebanon Springs) 4. Enos SMITH, minor-----where was he born? 5. George SMITH, minor----I know that in 1850 he was living in Hancock with brother John. Where was he born? Two sons-in-law 1. Isaac ASSELTINE 2. Joseph HIND Does anyone know what their wives names were? where they were married etc? Does anyone have any clues? Hopefully, Margaret in NV
Margaret, You might find this on the Esslestyne/Esselstyne family of help. http://www.distantcousin.com/other/ny/columbia/E.html Also, either of these below will lead you to the all name index for my Groat Family History index page - just curser down to the name (Esselstein, Wheeler/Whiler, etc.) then click on one of the the pages listed and it should take you to the proper page. http://home.midsouth.rr.com/groatline/all-name-index.htm http://hometown.aol.com/thefamilygroat/Index.html Hope this helps.
