Dear Columbia Co Researchers ~ I am looking for ties to the Joseph LAW family. He was b. 1752 in Goshen, CT and sometime before 1785 he migrated to Canaan, Columbia Co., with his wife Dulana FELLOWS. Their 5th child, Laura LAW married my gggg grandfather William BROWN. I have not been able to connect William to any Brown family, but I know that he too came from Columbia Co., before settling in Richfield Springs, Otsego Co., NY with his wife Laura Law by abt 1815 or so. I recently found from a cemetery lookup that Laura's former name was Law. That in turn, has lead me to an ancestral file in the LDS on the LAWS going back to the original immigrant ancestor Andrew Law in MA from Scotland. I was thrilled to get this, as this was the only thing I have ever even found to tie anything on William BROWN in the few years I have looked for him. Of course one can not trust the LDS records to be entirely accurate, but I must say it's a start as to where this LAW family came from and something about William Brown. He no doubt lived in Canaan or New Lebanon, Columbia Co. Joseph's parent's were Samuel law and Mary Langrell of Litchfield and New London, CT...
