Hi, My name is Judy and I'm searching for a birth record for my grr-grandmother. Family legend has it that she was born in Canaan, NY 15 Sep 1862. My brother recalls her telling that the record of her birth was in the church, but the church burned down. She was of the Episcopal faith. Does anyone have knowledge of an Episcopal church in or around Canaan, NY that may have burned down in the latter part of the 1800s? Also, would anyone have any knowledge of the families living in Canaan at that time. It is thought that her mother may have "gone home" to her mother when she was due to have her baby.
