My great grandmother was Lois Alice Dings, daughter of Hiram J Dings (son of Hiram). The family had moved to Alford MA around 1840, where they mostly remain today I believe in the Great Barrington area. I see that many Dings were in Columbia county NY every since Jacob dings arrived in the 1700's. I'm trying to find out who Hiram's father was and if Jacob is an ancester in this lineage. Any idea where to find birth records would be greatly welcome.
