PHILLIPS, born in Broome co., N.Y., April 1831; came to Ca. 1869 and entered into the mercantile business till 1884, when he removed to Healdsburg, Ca.; 6 months ago he took up residence in Santa Rosa, Ca.; he owned a large ranch 3 miles east of the city; leaves a wife and 2 sons, Frank C. and James H.; burial at Oak Mound Cem.; aged 58y 9m. Evidently he had not been in ill healt because in a few days earlier issue of the same paper it is stated : Jirah LUCE sold to P.J. PHILLIPS, 300 acres on the Rancho Sotoyome, Twp. 9 north, range 9 west, $12,000.00 Marilyn Dingman Demas
