War veterans and sons, I believe, of Dirk or Derrick and Maria Spoor Hollenbeck, came to Chenango Co. in the early part of the 1800s. Several of their children seem to have been born in Columbia Co. in the late 1700s - early 1800s as there are Hollenbeck families in the towns of Oxford and Greene, Chenango Co., who were born in Columbia Co. Abraham was b. 19 may 1760 Albany, NY or Columbia Co., NY m. Margaret Storm in 1783, b. Dutchess Co., d. 22 May 1844 in Greene, Chenango Co., NY. (Rev. War record also has Abraham as son of Robert Valentine Hollenbeck and Lena Van Valkenburgh.) Ephraim Hollenbeck was b. 18 Dec 1758, m. Christina Spoor, d. ??? probably in Broome Co., NY. There are several possible children of one or the other of these men including: William b. ca. 1785 Columbia Co., David b. ca 1788, Hannah b. ca. 1791, Sarah Hollenbeck Wells b. ca 1799, John V. b. ca 1806. One daughter born to Margaret and Abraham was Caroline Hollenbeck Avery. Other related families also b. Columbia Co., include Ten Broeck and Wheeler.
