The Massachusetts State archives contain a "felt collection" which has records of the founding of the town and at least one attack by New York. These events pre-date 1790. Susan Mulvey on this list has extensive experience in this collection. I understand that this archive contain little family information. I know of no one who has investigated the record problem from the New York side. I would also be interested in any family records which turn up on either of my two families.
