    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JayWise93 Surnames: Broad Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.columbia/4911/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Do you have any information on the Hezekiah Broad (1750 - 1790) who shows in the 1790 census in your county, and died there in 1790? Hopefully we can tie him as our ancestor. He was married to Sarah Whitcomb (b 1752)and had three sons, Hezekiah 1781-1843, Elisha and Aaron Green Broad, and maybe a daughter. Also believe he was a Revolutionary War soldier and given land in Chenago County. We cannot find any record of Sarah Whitcomb after 1790..did she remary? Thanks for any information. 1. [NYCOLUMB] KINGs of New Lebanon 1790 to 1839
    2. Daniel David Lewis Frommherz (3)
    3. Our Amos King born 1756 (son of William King Sr. IV) 3rd known child and oldest of his second marriage. We know that he married in New Salem and enlisted in the Revolution from New Salem. We also know that he was raised in and lived in New Salem except for a short time when his family removed or were listed as residing in Shutesbury, Hampshire County, Massachusetts where a 4th child was born to his parents (mother unnamed but not Mary Andrew as published by Rufus King of Yonkers in the NEHGS and the NYHGS) who was born by 1765. Amos married first to Hopestill (AKA Haskins) daughter of William Hoskins Jr. IV in 1781. He and his wife had 2 sons near as we can figure Nahum on 25 July 1783 and William Oliver in 1785. We believe that Amos and his young family removed to New York by 1887 or as early as 1785 probably before the third child was born. By 1790 with a short stint in his plans to continue on to Michigan by canoe over Lake Erie Amos is said in a letter by a grandson that he marked trees for his land near Hastings in the future Oswego County, NY. I have some hand written bills and receipts prior to 1790 in the area of Canaan but always known as New Lebanon Springs in the Lebanon Springs Valley formerly the King's District to denote is from the Dutch along the Hudson River in the west. We know that 6 children were born to Hopestill and Amos then her death is recorded in the memoirs of Desire Jane wife and widow of Horace King born 1811 written from Nebraska after 1885. Amos then married Miss Bassett in NY and they had 9 children raising 7 of them to maturity it is said. Amos died a widower in June 1839. Got a pension for his service in the Revolution applied for in 1831 and approved in 1832. Both he and his wives have never been located as a grave. 1. [NYCOLUMB] KIBBE - FULLER Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of H. Emma KIBBE of North Bingham, Pennsylvania. The photograph was taken at the Bailey & McCausland Normal School Gallery in Mansfield, PA, probably sometime in the 1890's. Emma appears to be in her teens at the time it was taken. The other photos recovered were all from the Class of 1896 at the Normal School in Mansfield so I'm guessing that she was attending there as well, probably at about the same time. H. Emma KIBBE b. 16 Sept 1874 in Bingham, PA to parents George Washington KIBBE (b. 29 Jun 1843 in Bingham, PA) and Dorothy Church FULLER (b. Feb 1844 in New Hudson, NY). The couple had 3 children including, H. Emma; Mark Vaughn; and Bert Pierce KIBBE all born in Potter Co., PA between 1874 and 1883. Emma married Carlton C. GROVER (b. 17 Nov 1871 in Bingham Township, PA) in 1899 and together they had 4 children including, Gladys; Dorotha; Dewert; and Carlton GROVER all born in Bingham Township, PA between 1899 and 1908. Emma died 11 Oct 1957 in Potter Co. PA. I am hoping to locate someone from Emma's family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [NYCOLUMB] BROOKS Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs I believe belong to the BROOKS Family of Columbia County, New York. The first is a photograph of Nellie BROOKS which was taken at the Sullivan Bros. Studio in Hudson, NY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with Nellie likely in her 20's at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has written "My Sister" on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is one of an unidentified woman, also taken at the Sullivan Bros. Studio in Hudson, NY. This photograph was probably taken in the early 1900's with the woman likely in her teens or 20's. I am hoping to locate someone from this BROOKS Family so that the photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. Daniel David Lewis Frommherz (3)
    3. I paid a title company in Hudson to research the King lands in New Lebanon and I have or had the history of the land right down to some of it being given or sold to the shakers. Amos King may have come directly to New Lebanon from New Salem, Hampshire County, Massachusetts leaving there in 1785. But I understand that He and Hopestill may have gone as far west as the southeast shore of Lake Erie near where Hastings, Oswego county is not located. His purpose given in a letter by a grandson in 1903 was to take claim on the free land he was due for being a Veteran of the Revolutionary War in Michigan and the idea he had was to take a canoe to Michigan from that point. The letter said that Hopestill didn't like the idea with two small children and one on the way with the turbidity of the lake. John F. King wrote that Amos started to mark trees in that area but didn't say were that area was exactly. I have some promissory notes and receipts prior to 1790 in New Lebanon that are signed by Amos King and some other receipts by his creditors saying that he was paid in full.
