Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NY/Columbia/1682 Surname: CROSS, WALBRIDGE ------------------------- I know that Ede (Edy) was a daughter of Nathaniel Cross and wife Abigail Walbridge based on Abigail's will of 1813. Edy is mentioned in the will (and deceased, as monies go to her heirs). I don't know when she was married although I suspect only the once. My ancestor Zebulon (Edy's brother) was born 1767 (written if Family bible), and I believe brothers Asa and Nathaniel were born about 1768/69 and 69/70 respectively. There wer sisters: Polly, Salla, Edy and Abigail but I know nothing of them.

Dear PULTZ families and researchers, We, at the Dutchess County Genealogical Society (DCGS), received a most delightful photo of a young child, and were asked to try to locate the interested family menber(s). The photograph is s professional studio photo, and is in excellent condition. It was produced by The Cottage Studio of G. Wallace Wright in Rhinebeck, NY, and is printed in sepia tone. Written on the back in pencil, and a handsome hand, is " Maude E. Pultz, 18 weeks old". The estimated time of the photo is very late 1800s or early 1900s. The child is propped into a (chair?) which is covered by a heavy tapestry material blanket. I am posting this to Columbia because so many early settlers to the Rhinebeck area, also moved into Columbia County. I can send a .jpg file of the pic to interested parties. Please reply to my e-mail address, above. Gil Leach Corresp. Sec'y DCGS

Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NY/Columbia/1668 Surname: Sheltus, Schultheis, Shelters, Petri, Tichout ------------------------- Hi Candi, One of my main sources of information on "my" early Sheltus line is the Revolutionary war pension file for Phillip Sheltus. It states that he was born in Livingstons Manor,(now known as German town) Columbia county, N.Y. in 1756, the son of David Shultis. With his first wife, Catharina Petri he had a son Phillip born in 1787. In September of 1803 he married Dorcas Tichout in Highgate Vt. On October 3rd 1832 he applied for his war pension at Chazy, Clinton county N.Y. You will find this area in the most north easterly part of N.Y. state. The area of N.Y. state that was closest to his home in Highgate Vt. Phillip died 24 Jan 1844 or 4 Jan 1845, I'm not sure which.
Researching surname Marenes in Valatie, Columbia co. or surrounding areas. ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks, Shirley

Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NY/Columbia/1666 Surname: Hollenbeck, Storm, Spoor, Wheeler, Ten Broeck, Van Valkenburg ------------------------- Abraham and Ephraim Hollenbeck, both Rev. War veterans and sons, I believe, of Dirk or Derrick and Maria Spoor Hollenbeck, came to Chenango Co. in the early part of the 1800s. Several of their children seem to have been born in Columbia Co. in the late 1700s - early 1800s as there are Hollenbeck families in the towns of Oxford and Greene, Chenango Co., who were born in Columbia Co. Abraham was b. 19 may 1760 Albany, NY or Columbia Co., NY m. Margaret Storm in 1783, b. Dutchess Co., d. 22 May 1844 in Greene, Chenango Co., NY. (Rev. War record also has Abraham as son of Robert Valentine Hollenbeck and Lena Van Valkenburgh.) Ephraim Hollenbeck was b. 18 Dec 1758, m. Christina Spoor, d. ??? probably in Broome Co., NY. There are several possible children of one or the other of these men including: William b. ca. 1785 Columbia Co., David b. ca 1788, Hannah b. ca. 1791, Sarah Hollenbeck Wells b. ca 1799, John V. b. ca 1806. One daughter born to Margaret and Abraham was Caroline Hollenbeck Avery. Other related families also b. Columbia Co., include Ten Broeck and Wheeler. Any information about these or other children of Abraham and Ephraim, or their family would be appreciated. Sally Chirlin

Jackie, Check the second volume of Hank Jones' book "The Palatine Families of New York, 1710" page 927. There are two Johannes Schuch's shown. One Johan Wilhelm Schuch and wife Gertrud had one child Anna Eva. The other is Johannes Schuch and his wife Anna Eva Betzer had 5 children: Anna Eva, Martinus, Johann Christianus, Johann Petrus, and Anna Gertraud. There is much more in the book on the families. If you can't find it in your local genealogical library let me know and I'll send you the info.
