Adam bought this land for five hundred guilders, from his father in law Jacob Janse Gardinier. He also purchased land in through his father in laws attorney,Maes Cornelissen. Adam was one of thirty-one settlers who received parcels of land from the governor general of New York also know as Kinderhook. Adam Dingman is my 5ggrandfather. The only place I found the Scutt name in any written materiel was in the Dibble Gen. with no 1st name for the husband. In the 1790 US Census in Columbia Co. (all in town of Livingston):: Abraham H., Isaac, Mnierd, Hendrick, Solomon A. All were possibly in 20's or 30's. If you do not have access to the index for the 1830 US Census (NYS) send me an e-mail and next time at library will check the index- 1830,1840, 1850 to see who may have been his father. e-mail hvail@worldnet.att.net. Will be checking out several others names in near future.

    3. Hi Gil, Doris, Ann and WJ3, Thank you all for the information. I am searching for the John Stalker born in 1757 in Claverack. His birth record is in neither in the Dutch Reformed Church nor the Albany Reformed. So I thought I would try the "English" church because I believe this Stalker branch is originally from Massachusetts and definitely not Dutch. I do know that St. Peter's Episcopal Church has records starting in 1756 (with some gaps). I think I will send off a letter. Thanks again everyone. Susan
