Died ca. 1849 in Cattaraugus County. Married Amelia Ten Eyck, d/o John and Elizabeth Simons of Schoharie Co., NY. Children are: Augustus, Mary, Henry, John Lewis (my gr-gr-gr grandfather) and Sarah Elizabeth. Have found a large concentration of Hover's in Columbia County, but not Schoharie. John and Elizabeth Ten Eyck were originally from Columbia County. This is a LARGE brick wall. Have not been able to locate John and family in any census material in the state. (1) Catharine Miller (she b. ~1739, d. 1804) (2) Joanna Miller, ne Shook Johannes was son of Hendrick Huyraadt (from film #0000239, item 2, p. 4) m. (1) Anna Maria Cramer in ~1735 (2) Christina Burden (sp?) Hendrick Huyraad (Hoysradt) probably came from Germany in 1710 and settled in East Camp (now called Germantown), Columbia County, NY. This entry references Vedder Church records. (from film #0000239, item 2, p. 4) There's much more information on these films about siblings, where they lived, ..., so you may want to order in these films at your local LDS Family History Center. Hope this helps. There is a film at the LDS Family History Centers that covers the Hoysradt line: #239 & 240, "Hoysradt/Streibel Genealogy". I don't know if your ancestor will be on the films or not. Just thought I'd volunteer this, since the same two films have Silvernail genealogy, and that's my line. I have the two films on indefinite loan at the local LDS FHC. If I have time & remember, I'll try to look up your Andrew the next time I get there. They lived in Philmont for years, and show up in the 1900 Census, but so far I've been unable to find his death date or where he is buried. The inscriptions are listed on my Web Page - Link Below. This cemetery is on Rte 217, in I believe the Village of Philmont or Town of Claverack or maybe both if the Village of Philmont is an incorporated village within the Town of Claverack. Sorry I am not clear on that as I am Dutchess County born and bred and not that familiar with Columbia County but I do love cemeteries and travelling the beautiful Hudson Valley, exploring them and copying transcriptions. Most of the inscriptions I have posted are late 19th/20th century inscriptions. Does anyone know if the early stones, many now unreadable or difficult to read, have been transcribed and published. If so, in what published work and where can one reference this work or obtain a copy of it? One of the reasons I am seaching for Quaker Records is to confirm if possible the children of Joseph Mosher and Rosanna Reynolds are indeed Joseph Jr, Nathaniel, and Earl. As you noted they are questionable at this time as noted in the book "Decendants of Hugh Mosher and Rebecca Maxson Through Seven Generations". Nathaniel Mosher was my g-g-grandfather. Since Joseph and Rosanna and Icabod were all Quakers I am hoping to find records that might confirm who the children were.

    1. [NYCOL] Guardianship Papers - Pettit
    2. In "The Columbia " Vol 2, Number 2, 1986 on page 42 the Right Rev. Gordon Proper transcribed the guardianship papers for Columbia County. Listed is the guardianship papers for Patty, Sally and Charlotte Whitmore dated 13 Jun 1818. It lists the parents as John Whitmore of Canaan and wife Lyephia Pettit. The guardian/bondsman were listed as Lyephia Pettit, Christopher Pettit and Royal Torry, all of Canaan. I need to find copies of these papers and I've checked the LDS FHC catalog and the microfilmed records for the county do not go that far back. Christopher Pettitt is the ancestor I'm looking for.He was born in Ireland in either 1781 or 1792. He had two children, Almira born 01 Jan 1818 in Canaan and William Henry, born in 1823 (who married Mary Brown in 1844). This is the first mention I've found of Christopher other than in the 1850 MA census. Could any tell me if the courthouse would still have these papers?
