Author: Sunburstrghbob Surnames: Hogan/Huguenin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.columbia/4744.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Susan: Thanks for the info on children. I only had 5 known and you have just brought me up to date with the source. I am trying to confirm this information: Daniel Huguenin was born LeLocle, Switzerland on 12 Mar 1717 or 1718. Moved to Perrysburg, South Carolina with parents Daniel Huguenin and Suzanne Jacot Huguenin. Family stayed in S.C., but Daniel and brother Abram moved north to New York state and at some point his name got changed to Hogan of which I have records that go forward from there to current. If I can confirm the change to be valid, I am then able to go back in history with ease as the Huguenin family has been recorded. Is your Dad still alive? Does he have brothers or sisters? Are there any older folks in the family anywhere? You have to sit down and pick their brains to find out what they know. Are there family records? If your dad is deceased, there should be information on his death certificate about his parents. Then you can start trying to locate folks in the census record. There are lots of baptism records and other ways to trace exactly who your family might have been. The name Van Etten is one of the oldest Dutch names in the Hudson Valley. She died in 1901. In the 1900 census she was living with her daughter and Family, Robert and Alison Coon. Is there someone who lives in the area that could take a digital photgraphof her grave site? I live in Illinois, not likely to be in New York for many years. Thank you for any help you could provide. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NYCOLUMB] Who are parents of my Cornelia Bresee?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: RandySeaverCV Surnames: bresee, brazie, brazee, bries, breese Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.columbia/4738/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I recently found out that one of my ancestors is Cornelia Bresee, born 5 Dec 1780 in NY, died 1840 in Jefferson County NY; she married James Bell (born 7 Aug 1777 in Scotland, died 1839 in Jefferson county NY) in Schodack (Rensselaer county NY) in about 1797. Their children were Sarah, Polly, Nancy, Betsy, David, James, Oren and Lucinda. Some of this data is from a WorldConnect database "sprague family" submitted by Lance Sprague. I believe that the birth dates for Cornelia and James probably came from some sort of family record. I've been digging through as much Bresee (Bressee, Bresie, Brezie, Brazie, Brazee, Brasy, Brissee, Brussie, etc) data as I can find on the Internet. It appears that one of the major centers for this surname in the late 1700s was Columbia County NY, just south of Rensselaer County (and just across from Schodack). There is also a concentration of Bries (and Brees, Breese, Breeze, etc) families in Rensselaer County and very few are in Columbia county. Does anyone have my Cornelia Bresee (born 1780) in their databases? Does anyone have a list of Bresee (and variant spellings) families in the Rensselaer/Columbia county area in about 1780-1800? If so, who are likely parents of Cornelia (some can be eliminated due to age, marriage date or other children born in 1780)? Thanks for any help -- Randy Seaver/Chula Vista CA ([email protected]) PS I am blogging about my Bresee research at http://randysmusings.blogspot.com - drop in and read what I find!
